Very nice :)

Although the “bad” and “good” last paragraphs need to be switched, or the “good” paragraph needs to be completely rewritten.

Her parents are coming across as paranoid and responding to questions that haven’t been asked.

Yeah, that’s my fault for not portraying it correctly. I had it in my head but just didn’t write it down because how do I words? Question was intended to be, “When asked about the success of being an autistic artist…..” but I didn’t edit it due to the massive explosion of vegan-related posts that immediately followed.

Aside from that, do you have any other reasons why these should be switched?

If the intention was to state that people shouldn’t distinguish Autistic artists from Non-Autistic artists, then no :)

So, I had a rather unpleasant experience on public transit recently.

It started when a random fellow passenger walked up to me (on a day when the light rail train was a tad more crowded than usual) and tried to get my attention / ask me a question.

Honestly? My initial first impression of him…

I can understand that the second guy made you feel scared and I can understand you would rather he wouldn’t act in such a way.

But you’re being a bit unfair here. You’ve come up with possible explanations as to why the black guy was racist towards you. He’s not even apologised, and it looks to me like you’ve accepted his apology! Yet you’ve not tried to do that once with this white guy. Perhaps he has received far more racial abuse than the black guy? Perhaps that’s why he so angry?

I can see this point of view myself, seeing as how I’m white and I’ve experienced far more racial abuse than the average minority group.

Just because the guy is white, it doesn’t mean you can’t give him the same amount of thought as other guys.

Conventional wisdom has taught me that if I have to ask that question, the answer is “Probably, yes” but I have something I just need to put out there.

To catch some of you up: My youngest son is six, he has moderate to high functioning autism and speech delay. He’s a little ray of human sunshine…

You state that dress is a form of self-expression, yet you’re enforcing specific clothes on him? You’re expressing yourself, he’s not expressing himself.

Perhaps you should let him pick his own clothes?

My name is Autism.

Hello. Allow me to introduce myself to you. My name is Autism. Perhaps you know me or know of me. I am a condition, a “disorder” that affects many people. I strike at will, when and where I want. Unlike Downs Syndrome or other birth “defects,” I leave no marks…

You shouldn’t really be posting this in the Autism tag…

Why not? Marty Murphy is a 49 year old Autistic woman who wrote it so why doesn’t it belong in the Autism tag? (Genuinely wondering.)

Because of it’s genocidal undertones and the fact it’s being posted on a tag where autistic people can read it.

If you understood what you would lose by becoming Autistic, you’d no longer want to be Autistic.

Among their “treatments” over the years:

  • Applied behaviour analysis
  • Withholding of food
  • Electroshock therapy
  • Forced Ammonia inhalation
  • Spanking
  • Foot pinching
  • Other physical punishments

Last year, the Center was forbidden from submitting new patients to electroshock therapy. However,…

I’ve read about this before as well and I’m equally disgusted. It seems to me, if there were done to any other group of people (other than disabled people), then it would be illegal.

From tumblr, regarding being told to kill myself. It’s freedom of speech.
I quit. This just pushed me over the edge tonight. I’m too angry to actually show it.

This type of behaviour wouldn’t be as acceptable if people were to attack it 100% of the time.

I’m going to be blunt: I don’t tolerate death threats. Period. I told you back then, I’m sorry they were aimed at you. No one deserves them.

The same people who liked your post, are the same people who liked me being told to kill myself on several occasions.
I’m not suggesting you’ve done anything wrong yourself, I’m merely pointing out how society in general makes these comments acceptable and how the actuallyautistic tag is a part of that movement.

The only like I see on the post is uokzune….

Was uokzune the one giving death threats? Or liked the death threats?
I mean, I’m not being sarcastic or anything. This is literally all I see on the post, and that’s the only like on the whole thing…..if you’re seeing something I’m not, let me know o_O

It would seem you’ve misunderstood what I’m trying to say and I’m not sure how to explain it better.
